Hi folks,

I've got a poem in The Ekphrastic Review today, about a Duccio painting: https://www.ekphrastic.net/

Lovely poem John. 'every face is worthy of transcendence' is uplifting. The fish image is truly memorable.

Thank you, Phil - yes, I do believe every face is worthy of transcendence. I posted this on another poetry website a couple of years ago and had a violently negative reaction to that fish image from a critic there, so i am pleased it caught your eye! I feel vindicated. :)

Cheers,
John

Well done, John. I like the poem. I'm not sure the fish image actually works, but I wouldn't want to be violently negative about it. (Was that someone I know, I wonder.)

Cheers

Hi David,

Very likely! :)

Ah yes, does it actually work? The eternal question! I saw the fish being thus lifted into air not ten yards from me while swimming in a Swiss lake long ago. And that is how I perceived it, or at least, that happened to my memory. I can see the hawk and the fish now, and feel the water.

I'm glad you like the poem! I like Duccio, I have a couple of poems about him.

Cheers,
John
