A win at Poetry Nook
Hi,
I was slightly surprised (in fact, I shrieked!) on finding out today that I won the 357th Weekly Poetry Contest at Poetry Nook, with a slightly satanic poem about a geological feature in Shropshire known as the Devil's Chair, https://www.poetrynook.com/
This site was recommended to me by my friend Martin Elster ('Miles T. Ranter'), who has also won there. There are usually about 20 entries per week and all themes and styles are allowed. The rules are here, https://www.poetrynook.com/contest/358t ... ry-contest, along with the entries for the 358th contest, which are pretty interesting to read
Best wishes,
Leaf

Fliss, I don't know why I didn't notice this before, but congratulations.
It is now a week later, and I'm unable to find your poem on the site. Can you give me a link to it?

Signature info:
If you don't like the black theme, it is easy to switch to a lighter color. Just ask me how.
If I don't critique your poem, it is probably because I don't understand it.

Fliss, that is quite an amazing poem, with creative and fascinating language.
I've decided that I want to study it, so I have copied it onto my computer.
You have taught me the word "tor", which I never knew.
Just one thing: Shouldn't "Geologist" be plural?
I'll get back to you on this one.

Thanks, Caleb! Happy studying; and I'm glad to have introduced you to a new word. I love it when that happens through poetry
With 'Geologist', it's meant as a type, if that makes sense? I was thinking 'Man of Science', someone who might not believe in anything other than what can be known through science. Of course there are Women of Science too; I just had in mind a chap I used to know, who was a geologist.
Sorry if I'm not explaining myself very well this evening. I had to work all through last night, so I'm having another of my blurry days
Best wishes,
F.

Hello!
Poetry Nook's Frank Watson (really nice chap) emailed earlier this morning to let me know I'd won contest no. 365, with my 'Ode on Bird Island', via https://www.poetrynook.com/ (^v^) (Word-Bird is pleased)
Best wishes,

Thanks, Tristan!
All a bit surprising, but I'm very happy with the wins. 'Devil's Chair' is part of a series I wrote after my granddad died in 2012. I found some solace in writing poems about the places I'd visited with him, strange though that may seem

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone
I had another win at Poetry Nook today, with a poem about my first guinea pig. You can read it here, https://www.poetrynook.com/content/guinea-first
Wishing us all success in 2022!
