Hmm! I've heard of 9/24. I've also heard submissions to The New Yorker work best if you're already famous or if someone famous writes that they should publish you. IIRC someone did a study of their acceptance rates.

Cheers,
John

If that's the high end then where would one find the low end?

Good question Morph. I guess ezines that are less well known, just starting up, or are niche, perhaps publish monthly rather than annually so have volume outputs. Some ezines publish daily! Of course, yet again, it is all subjective in many ways! Looking at biographies can be a guide, if the poets have poems in printed journals, won competitions, a book. Hierarchies exist.

Yes, when you put it like that there could be a PAL league table or ELO score based on published credits with a book bonus.

I think we're all in a league of our own though. Mine's more League of Gentlemen than Charge of the Light Brigade.

Amethyst is a bit backed up at the moment but they do respond quickly. They're a good venue.

Regarding Alba at Raven Press, I should tell you that I emailed them two or three days ago with a question, and I got a "delayed delivery" error. I only got one, however, which indicates that they might have gotten it. If they did, however, they didn't respond.

Their site didn't say how many poems to submit at a time. Now, however, one day before their cutoff of June 30th, I don't want to burden them with a submission. They are probably getting lots of last-minute submissions.

Oh my. I just realized that the post about Alba at Raven Press was from 2020. Sorry. Sometimes I forget that the latest post is at the bottom of a thread, not at the top.

If you don't like the black theme, it is easy to switch to a lighter color. Just ask me how.
If I don't critique your poem, it is probably because I don't understand it.

Hi Caleb

Send three, a reasonable number. Harold always responded to my submissions in the past (though all were rejected!)

Thank you, Phil. But is it good or bad to send submissions right at the end of the submission period? I'm guessing he's got all the poems he needs already.

It's fine Caleb for publications that don't come out on a monthly basis.
