Hi All,

I am guest editing September’s edition of Snakeskin, and I’d love to see some submissions from PG poets. The theme for this edition is ‘Environs’. Please interpret broadly.

Poems could be about the environs of a town or a city: for example, greenbelts, housing estates, rubbish tips, wastelands, nature reserves or parks. Or could be about the environs of a pub, school, workplace, allotment, shed, farm or space shuttle. Or you might want to write a poem about the virtual environs of a video game or website. Some argue that we now live in a global village, so by this measure the whole world could be seen as our environs.

Poems might show how an area’s environs have changed. Or they might show the effect of change on you (or other people); or the effect you or others have had on an area’s environs.

These poems should have a strong sense of place, with well chosen specific details, but there may be exceptions to this, too.

I welcome all forms of poetry, from traditional ones to experimental ones.

Please submit poems to my email address tristanmoss@hotmail.co.uk

I look forward to reading your poems.

Cheers,

Tristan

As I said here (just now) - http://www.poetsgraves.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=23958 - congratulations! Exciting. You've become a prefect.

Mac, Barrett, Seth, JJ & David,

Many thanks for the well wishes. I have had quite a few good submissions already and am looking forward to reading more.

Not sure David a ‘prefect’ is quite the right word, more one of the many ‘gatekeeper’ I’d say, which I don’t feel that comfortable with either. I’ve had so many rejections myself that I don’t like the idea of rejecting anyone.

Anyway, it’s a pleasure and an honour to have the opportunity to edit an edition of Snakeskin.

Cheers All,

Tristan

Everyone now secretly planning and hoarding submissions, I expect ... although "environs" does seem splendidly vague. Which gives us a lot of scope.

Hi Seth,

Any time up to about August 23 should be fine. I suspect George will want my final selection sometime around the 29th, so he has time to format the poems and post them.

Looking forward to your submission.

Hi All,

If any of you are still thinking of submitting some poems to the Environs edition of Snakeskin, which would be very welcome, could you please do so by August 23, as this is now the deadline for submissions.

Cheers,

Tristan

I didn't notice this thread until the 24th. However, most of my poems are about people, not places.
Signature info:
If you don't like the black theme, it is easy to switch to a lighter color. Just ask me how.
If I don't critique your poem, it is probably because I don't understand it.

Just never got round to it, Tristan. Too much Summer, too much sun. Hope it's a great success anyway.

Not to worry either of you. Fully understand.

There was a big response. Most of the acceptances have gone out now. Just a few more decisions to make.

Many thanks to those who submitted. Much appreciated.

Yay! My first publication of anything anywhere!
Thanks Tristan, Luke and mac. It is exciting to be in such good company. (Seth's marvellous huddle of machinery is very funny).
It seems like quite a special issue.
And I liked the photograph you chose above my piece.
Cheers everyone,
Jules

Well done Jules! I haven't got to your poem yet, although I have managed to take in both of Seth's, which are excellent as usual.

Your first publication too! An exciting moment. I wish you many more.

Cheers
