Just a bit of fun really...

Any one phonetic alphabet is rather restricted, but fortunately here are 10 alternative alphabets.

http://morsecode.scphillips.com/alphabet.html

Note that apples, oranges, beer, uncles, many boys and girls names, cities, hotels, whiskey and love are all covered.

So you should have no problems writing a poem using words from that list and posting them below here...

Feel free to add in as many extra "common" words as you need to make grammar happen :-)

Roger, Irma.
Rosencrantz: What are you playing at? Guildenstern: Words. Words. They're all we have to go on.

Verbs in particular are something you have to supply yourself :-)

I got a little side tracked on the page and ended up discovering that Stephen is really into dancing.
He enjoys the merengue, cha cha, and various other dances, but the salsa is his passion.
Back in 1996 he got hooked by the music and friendly atmosphere. Tracie (of Tracie’s Latin club) took him under her wing. Turns out he was a natural. He’s now teaching salsa around Southampton.
I also dipped into his photo album (page 1 of 3 only) erm…. nice family.

I’m not 100% sure what we’re supposed to do in this exercise.
I don’t get called trigger for nothing.
Can you please help me out.

Awoo Gallipoli! Me, I got rather seriously sidetracked here. Lost my way murklins literally and found myself swampsubmired in John Higgin's Language Museum as well as Brian Kelk's listy abundances. Always starting at the outermost link-edgelands of any given website, I haven't even started to explore Stephen's universe.
And
like Pauline, I'm not quayt certain what is expected here.
But
the idea, whatever it may be, has the unmistakable flavour of a lot of fun.
Everything looks better by candlelight.
Everything sounds more plausible on the shortwave.

I only looked at the phonetic alphabets, but even I was looking for something else--a Morse code translator...

The idea was just to use the rather odd words of the phonetic alphabets to inspire (probably silly) poems... But it will be quite OK to use the whole site...

Paris Queen

Charlie, Charlie, Charles
--Mary eyeballs Johns
from her hotel window; whiskey in her hand--

Charlie, total-Charlie, some sort of uncle...
and a complete Martha on the end.

The Loves of Ida

I Love a glass of whisky with my Charlie
A kilo sends me higher than the Empire state
I love to tango with Tommy in Tripoli
I Love to foxtrot, bare foot with Freddy
I Love to jig with Johnny at the jug.
on a Saturday night.
I'd like hot sex in a Paris hotel room
With David or Désiré, I don't care which;
So long as Papa doesn't find out.
I love men in uniform
Especially the mounties of Quebec.
I have a Romeo and Juliet in every town
All around this ever shrinking sphere
Friedrich in Firenza, Martha in Milano,
Irma in Imola to name but a few.
It's true I love them all
But above all I love my dog, Oscar.
I am not a number ... I am a FREE man!

Secretly Coded Message

Item? Foxtrot. Yellow-orange uniform, hooray!
Anton victoriously eats tarragon, olives, apples, saintly kilos;
young Oscar's uncle (Alfa Romeo) eats nuts.
Over to Amsterdam! Ludwig's lover opens whisky.
"Easy, Dora, tango's overrated," King Nellie's oboe whispers.

As in . . .?

Dolores? No, I'm Dora.
But your box says Dolores.
Oh, we're Series Street. Just come on
through. (Wink) Flip up the flag
and I'll turn Désiré for you.

Wha . . .? Nordpol? And not
NanNuts? Nan's the shortcut I took
on the desktop. Ah, but clicking twice
sent you right past. Hold tight now
for Nord's merger with Nicolas.

This is Abel. Both funds deposited
through the pneumatic. Check my account
has it. Took action before someone
stole them. Stole? You know that on Wednesdays
the vault turns Abel to Anatole.
