This is a word-cloud exercise. Click the link below to see the word-cloud (you will need Java working in your browser).

Study the cloud and try to find groups of words which inspire you to some sort of poem. You do not need to use every word and you can add as many extra words as you need to build the scaffolding around them.

You can also adjust the words' exact forms: run -> ran, train -> trained, horse -> horses etc.

Cloud

There is no end-date for the exercise, I will put another one up in a week or so...

Ian

p.s. Spot the source of the words

Exploring parameters
of pleasure, might result
in tomorrow’s children
taking steps where the dead
dressed in their finery
have travelled highways
of life, parked their cars
and calculated each fear
before subscribing to a religion.
to anticipate touching what is unseen seems far more interesting than seeing what the hand can not touch

death drives all highways,
calculated.
elegant.

if only we knew the parameters
us children
of tomorrow

Elegant cars fear highways --
the tussle of winding in and out of lanes,
the growling pains of traffic jams,
huge lorries that demand to barrel through --

but more than each of these they fear the risk,
the sudden braking slide, or twist
of the steering wheel too far,
or the blown-out tyre of some battered old car
that brings it slamming in.

All pleasure in design parameters is lost
calculating the cost
of tomorrow.
