Fresh eggs

It isn't a matter to be taken lightly,
there's the scrambling to consider.

Farm fresh eggs are as easily destroyed
as the flimsy walls of rusted barrels,
both keep thier contents vulnerable.
Pink bubble gum has more resilience
than her heart, she is the first
to tell you that over chewing causes
her jaw to ache, like blowing in a pin hole
at the end of one of those fancy-schmancy eggs
from one of those old world countries.

They stab those little holes in the ends of a hen egg
and blow on it as hard as they can
until what is intact on the inside is forced
through the prick in that fragile shell
until it becomes just a wet mess on a plate
and a hollow orb to be painted and displayed.

Her fucking jaw was going to ache and she knew it.
