What I Did During My Psychosis
To make all gods agree, I built a road
into the courts of Heaven. For the gods
who’ve trod the sky are various, and grace
must come to each. It’s as the Dodo says:
“All must have prizes.” Thus, my pantheon,
though never finished, was at least begun.
When I was left behind, a brick in Hell
that I had emptied, and God closed the door –
now, that was painful. But the dead, pell-mell,
reached Heaven’s gates. I couldn’t ask for more.
Tonight, the sight of what cannot be seen
brings me to trance. And though you may have thought
that I might weep, I am instead serene
on the Fifth Floor – much like a fighter caught
by one last punch, or like a child so green,
it runs beneath the car of Juggernaut.
A come to Jesus moment, as we speak
faith’s simple code. I’m looking at the Lord
in your brown eyes. Time slows. Is our reward
so very close? Are you that truth we seek?
What I Did During My Psychosis
Thanks Phil! I could explain the word subtle there, but simple likely works better - I'll try it! Glad you enjoyed a variety of details here! The car of juggernaut is a huge device people get crushed by, or at least, that was the belief. Like the car of dawn.
Cheers,
John

John, I like this poem too. But tonight I am brain-dead, and I need to be more awake in order to say more.
