The Carp Pond

This is the last painting in a series of five. It's painted from some photos I took in the autumn, mainly because the colours were so striking. I've enjoyed tackling this subject and might paint one more if the snow falls with reckless abandon.

I've enjoyed the series JJ. Like the definition in the foreground and the addition of the two birds in flight (or coming to land).

Those swimming on the water are distracting my eye and the symmetry there feels regimental.

Gorgeous blue transition in the foreground.

Hi JJ,

agree with mac about the symmetry, and while I really like the
reflections in the water of the two ducks in flight, their placement
(in line with two trees) is very distracting. As is the group of three
(left of centre) and the first bank of four clouds that echoes the
tree-tops.
The tree in the top left looks very similar to the one in the same
place in Angling for Clouds.

All that said, the bottom third, with the ripples and reflections
and the light on the reeds is gorgeous.

(in line with two trees) is very distracting. As is the group of three
(left of centre) and the first bank of four clouds that echoes the ...I'm looking for more life in this one and still might add a bird or two to the Angling for Clouds painting. Every time I walk round these ponds I'm struck by the plethora of mallards, coots and gulls frequenting the place. Ducks! More ducks. That's the way forward.

The tree in the top left looks very similar to the one in the same
place in Angling for Clouds. ...The Angling for Clouds pond is directly behind the viewer. This is the same pond as "The Perch Pond". They're all next to each other, separated by narrow paths. They are very similar, yet different.
