Angling for Clouds (revised)

Ok, I've just finished this one. It's an oil on canvas 50 x 40 cms of a local Nature Reserve and one of its many ponds. I was walking along the path in search of an image when these reflections of the passing clouds seemed to appear out of nowhere. I nearly dropped my iphone in the water in my hurry to catch the scene.

I've substantially repainted this one to give it more depth and light. The revised version is on top.

Not convinced this isn't a photograph JJ. Stunning, ...Ha! No, it's not a photo but it IS pretty realistic. To tell you the truth I'm very pleased with this one, mainly because I was there, saw the image, took the photo, painted the painting and made the pie.

I've only recently discovered these angling ponds, always assuming they were private. They are in fact open to the public for free, including parking. How's that? Has somebody slipped up?

This is the second piece by you where I've been captivated by your lines/angles. Love the way the eye is drawn along that right bank. Like the foregrounding to the left corner. The medium is movement not frozen moment. I went to see the Courtauld Impressionists exhibition and Cezanne's tree painting drew the eye into the picture in this way.

I've been threatening to get around the galleries for ages now and must do something about it. Cezanne was, and still is, one of my favourite painters. I used to try and copy his still life style when I was taking my A Level Art. Got a couple of half decent acrylics out of it from what I remember. No idea where they are now. I can guess.

Anyway, I hope the exhibition lived up to its billing because it looks like a real treat.

Sorry my comment was a bit abrupt.
I like all your work.
You would love my 'domain' in Sydney, 4 types of parrots,
parakeets, galahs, sulphure crested cockatoos and the yellow tipped black parrot,
which is big, when one landed on my balcony I thought it was an eagle.

The original photo was taken in daylight, the revision was taken by the light of my kitchen. I'm pleased you think the revision has a more finished feel and look. That was pretty much what I was going for.
