Here's a sharper version but you'll have to reduce the image to 40% to see the entire painting.

hi JJ

Like the glassy, ghostly trees - textures...not sure if the icy reflections/foreground are needed...

Thanks, mac

It's not particularly seasonal but I've just picked up a few tubes of seriously reduced titanium and zinc white from a closing down sale.
Shame to see the shop go and even more disappointing to see it full of customers for the first time. 60% off everything did the trick.

I can't decide if the water should be frozen or not, consequently I'm stuck in no man's land. I might add a touch of burnt umber to indicate
its liquid state. BUT, it looks pretty cold so a frozen sheet of water might be in keeping with the presented image. If I commit to ice,
the reflections will have to go. Still, all in all, I'm quite pleased with this one.

Thanks for dropping in again and thanks for the analysis.

Well you certainly put them to good use JJ.
I love this.
Whooo. I can see my breath in my response

Hmmm. I don't think you need the water.
It doesn't add much to the scene.
Nor do the little bushes hogging centre stage in the foreground.
They are neither summat nor nothing.
You have created a fantastic backdrop.
Now you need a something worthy to stand in front of it.
:D

Thanks, Pauline

I've made a few changes to the foreground since posting this painting. I'll post the revision soon,
although the bushes and water are still there. More snow on the bushes and a well trodden path through the snow
on the right bank to indicate that someone walks this way on a regular basis. Nearly dropped a robin in there then bit my hand. :)

Thanks, David, for letting me know. Very much appreciated. This one looks not bad at all when the sun catches the varying hues.
I'll see if I can get a photo this weekend, when fine weather is promised. :)

Best to both
