The final drawing will be a charcoal rendition of the above maestro. I'm off to buy some high grade charcoal pencils.
If you think you know who it is I'll let the story commence. I know! You can hardly contain yourself.

Not Sir Bobby, Pat. He's further down the page under, "Guess Who".
I've nearly finished the charcoal drawing. Not as smooth as the Paul Newman revision, so hopefully it looks a little less digital.
Struggling with his left eye though.

Grrr, it didn't sound right when I posted Sir Boddy.
It's not your drawing, I know the face, one where the name should come right too me, but it's not. It will come to me, no clues required.

Ah! Jackie Charlton is a good guess, but no it's not one of the Charlton brothers. He did have a connection to Bobby, though.

I'll post my progress so far. If you don't get it then, I'm going to cry.

Of course you will.David wrote:Pretty sure I know it. I will of course be honest about that when you make the great reveal.
I'm going to add a series of drawings to show how I'm progressing. Hopefully all will be clear. He's very well known, even though his face is kind of generic.

Still got a few adjustments to make to the face then I can get on with the clothing and background.
It's going to be a straight forward portrait background. I hope.

Ah ha!
Actually I'm not familiar with the man. I've seen a few pictures of him in the past would not have known his name.
It was Jackie Charlton that was the other name I was struggling for, even googled it but didn't think it was quite a match. A deff similarity though.
Anyway it's a fantastic effort.
You are right, does not look digital at all.
Superb job, well done.
Pat.

Thanks, Pat
I'll post the finished article when I'm finished. I've added another layer and adjusted one of the eyes since posting the progressions, so it's gradually coming together. With a bit of patience I might end up with a good likeness. Those oblique drawings are a pain.

PS
Sir Matt Busby's his name. Took Man Utd to their first European Cup championship in 1968.

Even Sir Matt doesn't look like Sir Matt.

I looked at the link
I scrolled and saw the pic you have used for your drawing.
Uncanny the likeness.
If I was presented with both i'm not sure I'd know which was the photo and which your drawing.
Top banana.

Too kind, Pat. I'm currently blending some of the wrinkle lines to prevent them coming to an abrupt end.
I'm tickled pink that you thought it was a good resemblance.
