Windows 10 keeps badgering me to update from W7 to W10. I've heard and read about too many problems to risk updating. Can anyone tell me if this problem is overstated or should I wait until the glitches have been sorted. I'm a virtual I.T. ignoramus btw. :)

Thanks for any advice

Hi JJ -

Have a gander at this: https://www.grc.com/never10.htm

Haven't tried it myself (not yet, I mean; at present I'm taking other measures), but probably will.

Good luck!

I've had few problems with it, and certainly no adverts. It is rather different. Much faster than vista which I had before, but I'd be less keen if I already had 7 or 8.

Thanks, Jane. I've clicked on the "Never 10" disable button and await the results. Appreciated the link very much.

Thanks, Ros. That was just what I needed. I'll stay put for now.

Best

It seems to be working, Jane, so fingers crossed.

I use 7 on my desktop and 10 on my laptop. After a couple of months getting used to it, I quite like 10. But I prefer 7.

Thanks, Stewart, I think I'll stick with 7 for now. The reminders have stopped so I'm pretty much happy.

Don't Leave your Windows Open ...
They stole in through the ethernet in darkness as I slept —
the daemon called Cortana and her wicked Windows 10.
Although I kept insisting that I wanted 7 kept,
they stole in through the ethernet in darkness as I slept
with automatic upgrades that they forced me to accept.
I've made the switch to Linux — won't trust Microsoft again.
They stole in through the ethernet in darkness as I slept —
the daemon called Cortana and her wicked Windows 10.

Found this on a poetry forum.
Thought you would appreciate it :D

Very good, Pauline. I appreciate this verse very much. Some great iambic heptameter going on there and a nocturna like rhyme scheme. :)
