I would just like to thank The Sun for making a good show of it today, the first long sunny day of the season. The birds are very happy. I agree with them. Chirp.

Aaah...so you've got it have you? I was wondering where it had gone. Can I have it back when you've finished with it please, I was in the middle of using it.

No way! Now the Sun has arrived, we're gonna keep it. It is music night tonight in the local pub and it can drink as much at it wants, being bought rounds all night. It can dance with who it likes, in whatever style it likes, well after closing hours..

You must still have it. We have fog as thick as... as... as ice cream up here. Can't see the proverbial in front of your face.

Yes, Ros...sun is still here. As the birds can testify....here they are at the croft of a friend.

That's lovely, Seth. What birds are they, on the whole?

There was a lot of birdsong in my fog, actually.

Terrific fog photo, Ros! I love fog.

I'm told that in the recording it is mainly blackbird, robin, chaffinch and wren with a distant song thrush and pheasant. I do not have such a discerning ear for birdsong :(

Ta - fog photos are great. Very mystical. I love birdsong, but am rubbish at identifying it, short of robins and blackbirds. Heard grouse on the moors the other day, lovely sound. And, I think, a curlew - my favourite.

Actually, it is a real frustration for me that I can't identify so well. I'd love to be able to wander around and say "curlew" or "grouse" or "lesser spotted Godwit". I miss the stonechats...so easy...about time they came by.

Deep in my heart I am one of those poets who believe that there are bird poems and, well, the others, the fillers for the rest of the book.
