Is there some sort of existential irony in putting poem such as this in the Welcome forum?

Rosencrantz: What are you playing at? Guildenstern: Words. Words. They're all we have to go on.

Is there some sort of existential irony (to borrow a phrase) in which a deleted poem - nothing there - garners three times as many hits as a re-write? Of course, of course, of course ... This is why computers will never take over the world. They simply don't know how to behave like human beings. We happy few (unacknowledged legislators of the world, thank you Percy boy) skip over the tramlines, trip over our feet, drink a wee bit, make ineffectual faltering attempts to rein in our raging libidos and read blank pages with endless fascination. Plus we vote a lot: early and often.

Yeah. And my laughter wasn't aimed at you specifically Bren. I'd understood Kris' comment as universal advice that many, myself especially, could do with heeding.

I've been thinking about this for the last four months. Nah, that's a total lie. I just looked at the thread again today out of curiosity: what the hell did I write back then that garnered 437 hits? I can hardly manage 50 or 60 with any of the recent ones, so let's have a look-see. I burst out laughing when I saw it was a deleted poem! I'd forgotten entirely. How marvellously silly we all can be. That, if anything, is the real universal trait ....
