Was Albert Camus a better goalkeeper than George Orwell? Have your say here.

For those interested in Orwell or his times, his diaries (link) are currently being posted online by The Orwell Prize. Entries are posted in pseudo-real time, beginning in 1938, i.e. today's entry is for December 10, 1938, and will continue until Orwell ceased writing his diary in 1942 (2012).

For those about to jump in, George and his wife (who is almost never mentioned) are currently in Morocco, where he is convalescing from the wound inflicted by a sniper in the Spanish civil war. His diaries so far have focused almost exclusively on the day-to-day workings of the locale in which he finds himself, and on the number of eggs produced by his miserly chickens. They are rather boring at times, but provide an insight into the man, and I expect things to get more interesting as WWII approaches.

He certainly got through some bloody eggs!
After letting go of branches and walking through the ape gait, we managed to grasp what hands were really for......

Yes - but note that the eggs Orwell is recording are those laid each day, not necessarily those consumed. Presumably his missus is getting a half share.

Then again maybe Eileen didn't like eggs - we'll probably never know.
