I went out to Weston Longville church today to get a photo of the Rev's grave. Another cracking Norfolk church (All Saints'). I seem to spend a fair bit of time visiting churches now - in fact, I feel that I could be turning into John Betjeman. Norfolk is a wonderful place for this hobby because it has the highest concentration of medieval churches in the world. (Originally 1000 - but only 659 remain.)
Parson W left behind a diary of his life as Rector of All saints' and it's an amazing (mundane) record of 18th century rural life. His main obsession was with food - meticulously detailing what he had each day for breakfast, lunch and supper.
Picture coming shortly. As is Henry Rider Haggard (Ditchingham St Mary's), Ralph Hale Mottram (Rosary Cemetery, Norwich) and John Crome (Norwich School Artist) St George's, Colegate, Norwich.

PS If any of you have any photos of other writers' graves/artists/musicians from your vicinity - I'd love to have a copy to add to the site.

Sometimes.

A hunger in himself to be more serious,
And gravitating with it to this ground,
Which, he once heard, was proper to grow wise in,
If only that so many dead lie round."

this is very interesting. I helped my father build a house in Weston Longville in 2003/2004. Popped into the Parson Woodforde pub a couple of times. The churches around Norfolk that I saw were fascinating. in the sleepy Oxfordshire village I am actually from, the churches seem more modern where those in Norfolk that I saw had a poor mans build quality to them. Really interesting and I look forward to seeing your pics.

It's small world indeed. I need to pop back to WLongville to take a picture of the pub sign. I'm currently working on a new website about Norfolk writers and lit etc etc - which will feature loads of photos taken by yours truly.
