For some reason I haven't been able to tolerate fiction for the last ten or so years. But I am now reading - and more than tolerating, really really enjoying, in fact - The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet by David Mitchell.

Haven't read that one Michaela. He's an author I feel I should read more, what with his connection to these islands, but the only one I remember reading is Black Swan. Which was excellent by the way.

I think Nicola gets some (small) amount of money from Amazon for every purchase, which goes towards the cost of hosting this site (which has a monthly fee).

David Mitchell is great, Cloud Atlas was astounding in its scope, similar to his debut Ghostwritten.I also read Black Swan Green, which was also very enjoyable on a different level.
The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet will be on my next list, thanks for alerting me to that one.

David, I found both Cloud Atlas and Ten Thousand Autmns uncommonly difficult to get into to begin with.
