Re: Strand Street

"Ah, the Maypole. It was just a little supermarket, wasn't it?" I note, apropos next to nothing, that my grandad's brother managed one. Swansea branch. This bit was excellent..."creaking gamely overhead like some absurd Heath Robinson alpine cable car". Nostalgic, of course, but ...

Re: The Jolly Blue Dragon

I have just found out that this is likely to have been one of the last poems by Cheryl Leverette. Some of the older hands here are likely to know her from visits to Poetry Circle, where she had posted for many years. Sadly, I learn that she died very recently.

Geoff! Good grief, I heard you got killed down in that shoot out in Ecuador along with Butch and Sundance. So it turns out you were in a different gang and in Nutwood.

I am such a Rupert fan that I cannot assess anything Rupert related without judging it = excellent.

Hail

Ta, Mac. It is, I suppose, the main Highlands/Islands literary magazine, so well known in these parts...and publicly funded and free. In part, in large part, because it prints work in Gaelic. Many of the folk of Scottish literary life are there somewhere in previous editions.

Northwords Now3

Very pleased, as always, to be appearing in the new edition...with 3 poems...and a poem by my dad. :D We've appeared a few times now, but I always take great delight in seeing a joint appearance. This makes us the biggest father/son literary pair in, o, perhaps the whole village. http://www.northwor...

Re: The last of the Clipston Methodists

Greetings, Luke Nice touches, but the fallen leaves/lost generations pairing feels a little well worn now. Do you know the classic of the genre, The Leaf Burners by Ernest Rhys? One of my favourites. I also wonder if there is enough specifically about the prims? I think something more specifically a...

Greetings, Silent! Here is my punt at an interpretation. One person is showing too little respect....by stopping the ambulance with such trivia...an idiot narcissist. The other is showing too much...by whispering in a context in which she would, if her beliefs were true, lack the reason to whisper. ...

Re: The Old Miner [revision 2 with original title]

Greetings JJ :D I like the portrait, but I did wonder about what might seem to be quite a bit of redundancy. I wonder if "one" is already implied by "fused"? Do you need to say that his garden was a "private place"? Or that it was "quiet"?...how loud would it ...

Re: Interpreter's House

It has shifted a generation in the new editor, Georgi Gill...and is now perhaps slightly more on the experimental end of things. It shifted to Scotland under the old editor and has stayed in the new hands. I will miss the old print mag, which I always thought of as being very good. Still, brave new ...
