Re: Perfectly Imperfect (Revised)

Hi Morpheus, I like this and think it works very well. I’m not sure I agree with Phil about swapping ‘fuck it’ for ‘sod it’. I like the harshness of ‘fuck it’. I also think your move from first person to third person viewpoint in you second version adds an element of humour to the end of the poem, w...

Re: A Glass of Water

Hi John,

Yes, this is a lovely poem. A pleasure to read.
…The birds / knot and unknot …
I’m sure I’ve read this image before in another one of your poems. It’s a cracker. Works so well.

Re: AI

Hi David, Read this a number of times and what mostly comes across for me is a sense of disconnect and apathy (maybe this is a political poem?). Maybe what you are describing in some way is the state of play now. I would like a few more clues if this poem is meant to hint at more or something else. ...

Hi Morpheus,

I enjoyed this - the rhymes and your well weighted lines. It’s good fun.
who goes ahead and pulls the plug?
Slime’s reaper boy: the slug.
This made me smile.

Nice poem.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi David,

Many thanks. Good to see around. Though I’ve only been bobbing in and out myself for the past 3/4 months. Yes, George is very generous.

I thoroughly enjoyed your last collection. Are you putting another together?

Hope life is treating you well.

Hi Morpheus,

Many thanks. Sheffield and its Uni are great places. I now live in York and miss Sheffield a great deal. It’s one of the norths well kept secrets - a wonderful place. I don’t think I’ve read your work here either, but I’ll remedy that now.

Hi John, Many thanks. Really pleased you like the cover, title and think the endorsements work well. The cover is a photo I took last year in one of Venice’s many churches (can’t remember which one) when I was there for 3 days with my family. I liked that there was so much missing from the mosaic bu...

New Book

Hi All, I’ve just had a book published by The Red Ceilings Press called ‘Ligaments’. These little Red Ceilings books are beautifully produced. I just hope my sequence can live up to their production quality. The sequence is based on a long poem I shared here in the Finishing touch forum. So, many th...

Many congrats Celeb. I start from the position that everyone has prejudices, including myself obviously, and that being honest with ourselves about them is the only way forward to a better world. Enjoyed your poems.

Re: Wind and Super-8s

Hi John,

I really like the easy style of this poem. The language sounds unforced and natural. And the poem has a strangely iconic feel about it.

I might cut ‘It’s a windy night’.

Much enjoyed.

Hi Everyone,

This is just to let you know that Fliss may be away from the forum for a few days. She has been taken to hospital with a suspected tibia fracture. Cath on Twitter asked me to pass on this message to you all.

Really hope Fliss is ok.
