Re: Dwarf Planets

I love the opening dialogue because we don't quite know who is speaking or where we are until the last stanzas--so that made it an interesting conversation. I did like the wryness of 'a cosmos much more intricate than it used to be when I was six..."--How true! Then they went and did away with ...

Re: One of these dudes is a legend!

Absolutely an amazing shot! Definitely a keeper.

I met Ella Fitzgerald once in her dressing room at Chautauqua Lake, NY. I was only 16 at the time and had no idea what I was really experiencing. Yeah, misspelled youth or youth is wasted on the young!

Re: Click here for the PG iPod

Wow that was a long time ago Geoff! It actually is a very accurate rendering of camping with my parents. I was 11 or 12 at the time and of course mad at my mother for being my mother. Yet it was always mixed. I envied her beauty in my disappointment with my awkward phase. My father said once that th...

Awww, Oskar! You are making me blush...

Geoff, I will make sure I do both of those this week but today not so good. I have an awful head cold and sound like a mix of Lauren Bacall and Ernest Borgnine. LOL!

Re: Old Lines

Elph, Because I am not aware of the history behind the poem I took it as a relationship that didn't go 'bad' in the sense of a disaster but a slow eroding over time. Anis Nin once said: "Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish it's source. It dies of blin...

Re: An Invitation to the Homecoming

It is dawn in Duck Bay, on a Sunday so if you have something to say then say it straight. I will not wait for your emissaries Direct and to the point--'dawn and Duck Bay' was only the beginning to some great assonance going on in this poem. I know my grammar is horrible but I wanted to shoot this o...

Re: Coming to Terms with Death

Its a story cooked in loss--with an edge. I can see very clearly that the parents came to terms (such as the mother writing her own poem) and the children also, each in their own way. Some children were consoled in part by the inheritance and the writer by giving his father a better tribute--somethi...

Re: Seeking New Premises

Dear Ray, I liked the easy flow of the opening lines. Thought that 'to swerve undisturbed dog excrement' was a bit of a mouthful (no gross pun intended). It wasn't as easy as 'the whoosh of the wind and the unbroken bend". Until the thaw begins, tobogganing's the white-knuckle ride, par excelle...

I'd forgotten about the unlost. I've just posted a poem with 6 un- words in the first 10 lines. I think it's your fault. Ray, I am learning that everything is my fault! Re: Thursday

Thursday sings like a bent wire fence jittering on the wind-cradled moor, like surf running up the strandline, like a climber hanging on the rock face, one leg dangling I think this is a sublime little poem--not sure that 'Thursday' should even be the theme. It seems too ordinary for such a lovely,...

I really like mythology so I looked up what Tuesday might mean and found that the Norse god Tiw was a one armed guy, thus: raised her singlehandedly Tyr (pronounced /ˈtɪər/;[1] Old Norse: Týr [tyːr]) is the god of single combat, victory and heroic glory in Norse mythology, portrayed as a one-handed ...

is the daughter of Tīw, (raised her singlehandedly) who taught her no grace. She surely is not 'fair of face', the poor fugly waif!
