Re: Taking Off Jack

Jack Dee? I like the title. Fits very well. Enjoyed the read. Sitting down, I quipped, suited me best. Use italics, maybe? It would highlight the speech from the surrounding text. a cue card drawn on the palm of his fist, Not quite picturing that. Very good last line. Bit of a drive-by from me, but ...

Re: The Fortingall Yew

I apologise, in advance, for clod-hopping over a poem you've clearly spent a lot of time carefully constructing. The highlight for me is - Who knows how many others there were littered around the provinces - a poor but happy vintner with a neat sideline in publishing erotic fiction, a fine arts deal...

Re: The Summer of Balloons

A very good read. I want to see balloons as balloons, nothing else. However, this tends to throw a spanner in the works, for me it was grotesque how they came down and coated us and Knives proved ineffectual at the very start, Now I'm in some sort of Walter Wanger, 'Invasion of the...' B-movie thril...

I seem to remember Brian and yourself pushing me along at the time. I'll have to take another look at the thread. Thanks anyway, David. Is there a word for the musical equivalent of ekphrasis? Answers on a postcard. 2010? I peaked five years ago! I should really turn it in and do something else. How...

Dead Snakes (2)

I have two in this one. Some good poets on view. Might be worth a punt?

Re: A PG Gathering in London Feb 2015

I will not be bringing my many peccadilloes to London, on this occasion. They are being put in kennels while I am elsewhere with my family for the weekend.

If there is ever a replay, I will endeavour to do better and actually turn up!

Have a great time everyone. That, I’m sure, is inevitable.

Enjoyed this, jou crayzee guy! Mega quirky. A real geekfest. Excellent ending. One small inconsistency..?

Re: Don't sing the blues

It walks. It talks. Enjoyed the clarity and sheer fun of it. It's apparent simplicity is done with great skill and has a very pleasing stream of sounds and rhythmic variations running through it.

zest and breath work for me.

Re: Since my last epiphany... (REVISED)

Thanks for the comments. I will do my best to reciprocate. Personally, I'd lose and other silly things because it drops the ball on the irony. Excellent observation. That line will have to go. Thanks, Jackie. Yep, I agree with you Geoff, S3 is relatively weak. I keep pulling it apart and rebuilding ...

Re: Since my last epiphany...

Yep, I’m hoping to perform this one, Travis - once it’s been fettled here. The shed/instead rhyme I found obtrusive. It clangs, but you can get away with that sort of thing a lot more off the page. Thank you, Jackie. This character is irresolute. Glad his actions come across as absurd. I appreciate ...

Since my last epiphany... (REVISED)

REVISION I have cancelled the milk and thought about foreign travel. Returned several leather bound volumes of The Encyclopedia Brittanica. Sponsored a gibbon for just three pounds a month and randomly appeared at various leisure centres. I have considered my options… made a sort of plan to flash mo...

Yes, I like the idea of the pacifying power of poetry - apologies if some of that caught you in the eye! I've never been to Ronnie Scott's either, but it's on my list of places to go.

I'd have loved to have been there for this -
